A Ghost Trip & Dream Enablers

“Do you have any trips planned?” the Dream Enabler asked.

“I want to go to Vermont to see this pair of mediums, but I’m only going to do it if it comes together super easy,” I said. “Then I’ll know I’m really supposed to go.”

“Talk to Archibald! He has a house in Vermont.”

“Who?”

“The groomsman at our friend’s wedding. The one I walked down the aisle with.”

“Um, I don’t’ know him. Not really. I think I’ve met him twice.”

“You should ask.”

Asking a borderline stranger for a free place to stay is sooooo far from anything I would have ever done prior to working with creative energy. But over the past few years I’ve come to understand doors open when we’re brave enough to talk about what we want with people we trust.

Those trusted individuals often become the catalyst to a chain of unlikely events that enable your dream coming into reality. And most of the time there are a few unexpected, very enlightening twists along the road.

How do you know if someone is a dream enabler?

·      You can be yourself around them. No masking. (i.e. You don’t feel judged by them or hide aspects of yourself to make them feel comfortable.)

·      They get excited about what you’re excited about.

·      They have their own dreams they are actively pursuing.

For this impactful relationship to work and unlock the unexpected next step in your creative career you bear the majority of the responsibility.

Your dream unlocking responsibilities:

1.     Say what you really want. Be brave, vulnerable, and honest.

I wanted to go see two mediums, because I learn a lot by seeing how other people with metaphysical skills work. BUT I still have a ton of judgement around myself for wanting this, because I was conditioned that “this” was a bunch of nonsense and “the devils’ work.”

Furthermore, I biologically feel it is dangerous to admit anything out loud related to metaphysical talents and someone is going to lock me in an insane asylum. This stems from my great-grandfather trying to commit my great-grandmother when he wanted a divorce in the early 1900s, and I know it’s much harder to commit someone these days—but my body still tells me it’s not safe to tell people about my energetic experiences.

I trusted my Dream Enabler though and knew she was safe, so I told her what I really wanted. (Additionally, being brave with her emboldened me to be brave here and share it on my newsletters.)

2.     Act upon the Dream Enablers suggestion—no matter how far-fetched it may feel.

I had a three-hour car-ride home from the Dream Enabler’s town and that gave me a lot of time for completely rational thoughts to try and talk me out of asking a stranger to stay in their house. When dream enabling is in the works despite my very analytical, intelligent brain I generally end up at the conclusion Fuck it, what do I have to lose? Which is accompanied by a burst of courage and an immediate impulse to act.

I recommend immediate action while the courage is loud and before your brain can talk you out of things for being impractical, or wanting to much, or being high maintenance, etc. (That burst of courage and immediate urge to act are often good indicators things are going to work out, btw.)

When I made it home, I texted my contact to Archibald and asked if he would breach the subject on my behalf.  He said, “Sure!” and all I had to do was wait.

3.     Accept it’s out of your hands now and do your best to forget about it.

I definitely wanted to go to this event. (The earliest private session I could get with the mediums was two years out.) It felt like I was going to learn a ton from watching them work, and I have a lot of dead people so maybe a few loved ones would stop in and say hi to me if I did attend.

Any time I felt the urge to nudge my Archibald contact I reminded myself, if I’m supposed to go it will work out. Eighteen days later, while on an unexpected all-expenses luxury trip to Miami (which is a whole different creative energy story for you), Archibald and his wife call to tell me they’d love to let me stay at their place. I was dumb-founded, appreciative, and so pleasantly surprised that these kind people would open their doors to me.

4.     Walk through the door—no matter how scary it may seem.

Getting what we want is scary. People don’t talk about that a lot but it’s true.

I’m a good solo traveler, but when Archibald told me I’d have the 200-year-old farmhouse to myself, except for the “entity” that hangs out upstairs. And by the way the house was in the middle of the country, and I’d need a 4-wheel-drive rental car to get through the likely still snowy dirt roads of Vermont. I had a moment of Oh Hell NO cross my mind. But the door was open, and it was my job to be brave enough to walk through it, so I asked Archibald if I could bring a friend with me. I bought two tickets to the event that night, and knew I’d figure the rest out later.

In just over a month this dream trip is happening. Luckily, I have a cousin who is very into ghosts and old-houses and country-nature vibes, who also has a lot of dead people, and will be joining me.

Every person in this story is a Dream Enabler. (The friend who gave me the idea, my contact to Archibald, Archibald and his wife, my cousin.) But I had to hold up my part of the bargain to get there.

What dreams are you ready to unlock?

I’d love to know. You can share in the comments or book a discovery coaching session with me to share one-on-one.

p.s. Due to this ghostly adventure the April group coaching session has been moved to Saturday, April 19th. Noon- 1 p.m. CST.
