New Chair, New 7 Cards, Coaching this Saturday

The chair needed to fulfill a specific set of needs:

1)    Short enough I could sit on it, beneath my dragonfly lamp without hitting my head.

2)    Wide enough I could sit cross-legged in it, so little-delicate-eighteen-pound-Monty cat could sit on my lap as I drank my morning tea.

3)    A comfortable seat so I could write on my lap desk for as long as I wanted, but not so comfortable I would want to fall asleep.

4)    Easy jumping/access for little-delicate-eighteen-pound-Monty cat so he could join me any time he wanted.

I asked my friend who knows about things like where to buy chairs if we could go shopping together for this unicorn of a chair. My friend is smart and told me to bring a writing book and wear clothes similar to what I would wear when I sat in the chair, so I could attempt to recreate that cat-on-my-lap writing feeling as closely as possible in the store.

I met her at a second-hand store in Overland Park, and we both paused at an armless, red-leather chair. It was low to the ground and wide. A potential ideal candidate, even though red wasn’t ideal for my room’s color pallet.

I sat.

“Holy crap. This is so comfy.  You have to try it!”

She sat. “Oh my God it really is.”

I sat. Slipped off my shoes and assumed the cross-legged writing on the lap posture. “Ummm, I think this is it.”

It fits in my hatchback—even though the store’s mover guy fought we me that it wouldn’t.

I get into my bedroom and, in the sunlight, realize it’s not actually red, it’s a deep burnt orange—that actually matches a picture in my room perfectly & ties together my dragonfly lamp, the chair, and my little green velvet ottoman that holds all my pens and journals.

The second day of writing on it, I’m giddy thinking about how I’m writing in my chair, and it feels so good.

Then it hits me. I’m WRITING in my chair.  OMG not only is it perfect—I get to write it off on my taxes.

(I wrote this in the chair. Monty supervised from the window and wants you to know the chair also has his meows of approval.)

This week’s 7 cards is up. Feels like it may be a hard week, but there is good coming out of it.

Reminder, group coaching is on Saturday at NOON CST. Looking forward to seeing your faces, and if you want to try group coaching to see if its for you message me & I’ll get you more info.
